Busy...sick....take your pick...

That's what our house has been like for the past few days...either busy or sick!! I've been working like a mad woman trying to finish up our Christmas cards (I made 32), or working on stuff for the beautiful December kit over at My Scrapbook Nook, or lying in bed with a fever, or braving the stores trying to pick up little things here and there for Christmas, or wrapping presents, or trying to clean up my house, or taking care of my sick kids, or making Christmas ornaments for my family, or going to the post office every other day (which is what it seems like).....*Sigh....I can't wait for the day I get to just sit and relax...anyone know when that will be?? Crazy, crazy life I tell ya!! :) I still can't believe Christmas is only a week away!! Where in the world did this month go!?!?! I think my brain and my body are still stuck in October....I sure hope they catch up real soon!!

Anyone wanna
see some eye candy?? I don't have much....but it's better than nothing....I made this two pager for a class over at My Scrapbook Nook using their Dec. Kit...you can find the class HERE....

Its not the greatest layout I've ever done (I'm not good at 2-pagers...)but the journaling is very special to me because it's my memories from Christmas's growing up....Here is the journaling:
-Every year we would always have a family Christmas party on Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa Nield’s house….

-I remember how hard it was to wait all day to finally go there…

-I still remember the Christmas I begged to open one of my Christmas presents early…my parents told me if I did I had to we
ar it to the family party….It was a bright green sweat suit…I sure wish I would have waited until Christmas morning to open that present…
-The weather was so cold but I never felt it b
ecause I was so excited…
-I still
remember the year I swore I saw Santa flying through the sky….
-All my cousins would be there namely Kevin and Megan - my most favorite cousins…

-We would al
ways have a dinner…I mostly remember having Chili…
-We would hide out behind Grandma’s Chair next to the tree to eat and we would look at all of her ornaments…the very old
dolls and the spiky tinsel balls were my favorites…
-I still remember the year I burnt my finger on one of the bulbs of Grandma’s lighted candle holder…

-After dinner each family would get up and pe
rform a Christmas musical number…My favorite was to hear the McMurtrey kids sing…they have such beautiful voices…The Staiger’s always sang Silent Night in German….I loved watching my Grandma listen to each family…She always looked so proud….if you listened hard enough you could hear her humming along while waving her finger to the music…
-I still remember the year I had to play a song on the piano for everybody…I sure wish I would ha
ve practiced more…Thankfully I was among family…
-After th
e program every dad from each family would talk about what was going on in their family at the time….I mostly remember just giggling and whispering with Kevin…
-Uncle Brent would read the Christmas story from the bible…it was always bookmarked in this huge set of scriptures….I can still hear his soft voice telling it so well…

-We would have a family prayer after that….G
randpa Nield was always the one to say it…He would always get emotional….I still remember his icy blue eyes wet with tears and a big smile on his face…
-After this we would each ge
t a candy bag full of yummy treats…Grandma and Grandpa would hand them out to all of us….We would squeeze so tight around their feet hoping our name would get called first…
-I still remember Grandma’s huge smile a
nd wink she gave when we each took our own bag…
-I do remember no one was ever in a hurry to get home…we would sit around inspecting our candy and just sit and chat with everyone….
-Whenever we did eventually leave there was always one more s
urprise waiting for us at home…Santa’s elves always left us a present on our beds…We got pajama’s every year…I still own and wear the last pair of pj’s I ever got from Santa’s elves…
-I also remember sitting around our Christm
as tree with my siblings just soaking up the spirit of Christmas…we didn’t say much…just sat and looked at the tree….
-I still remember my last Christmas I was able to spend with all of my own family, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandpar
ents….
-I sure do miss it.

YAY for Christmas....I love this time of year!!

Here is
a quick digital layout....She really is my pretty princess...she tells me that she is every single day...she also told me the other day when I was fixing my hair that I was a pretty princess too....She often tells me how much she loves my eyes...If I'm wearing my glasses she always takes them off to see my eyes....How sweet is that??

These are my Christmas cards...I got the idea from Kristina Werner....she's has some awesome tutorials on her blog for making cards and so since I am horrible in the card department I was so very happy I found her blog....

Wanna see my silly ornaments I made this year....they make me chuckle.... :)

Here is a picture of Lily looking at the Christmas lights....Porter and Lily are so excited this year for Santa to come!! I love seeing the magic of Christmas light up their eyes!!

Well I must run to the post office...AGAIN....and stop by Target....AGAIN....lets just hope Lily wakes up happy from her nap!!

OH!! P.S. My sister had her baby this morning!! I'm so happy for her!! He weighed in at 7lbs. 1 oz. and he was 20-1/2 inches tall...They haven't picked out a name yet (the one they liked just doesn't fit him...) But, I'll let you know what it is
when they tell me...I'm so proud of you Stef!! :)

ETA: They finally decided to call him Carson Scott....I find it very fitting....Here he is!! He's so darn cute!! My dad took this picture....

Happy Holidays! (It's your cousin Val) Tell everyone that Steph's baby is so precious! & Tell your cuties to take it easy on you - Santa's watching to see who's a helper this time of year!

Congrats on Steph's baby! Tell her that for us :). By the way, I LOVED your journaling for that Christmas page. I think I only went to one or two of the Christmas Eve parties at Grandma's, and I was really little, so I don't remember very much. But I loved how you talked about Grandma waving her finger to the music. And the way Grandpa's eyes looked when he got teary-eyed. I loved his eyes, they remind me so much of my dads. And the McMurtrey's singing...oh, such good memories. It was great to remember! It makes me miss them and the old farm. I have such fond memories of playing there. I love when my kids get together with their cousins, bc I know they're creating memories too now!

Thank you so much for helping me remember the sweet times at Grandma's and Grandpa's on Christmas Eve. Some of my most favorite memories are at G-ma's and G-pa's house. Your layout was beautiful and it made me very emotional and there are times when I long for the old days and want to sit at the feet of G-ma and G-pa to wait for my bag of candy. I too received pj's from the elves and anyway, I could go on and on with my memories. Thank you again for sharing your memories. Have a wonderful Christmas and have fun creating new memories with your family. Love you! Love, Annie.
